How ’bout you Kiss My Asana?!

Tee Hee.  🙂

During the month of April I invite YOU, wherever you live, to join the Daily Bread Yoga team in the Kiss My Asana yogathon!  Kiss My Asana is a fundraising effort to support adaptive yoga programs and education through Mind-Body Solutions, in Minnesota.  But, it is much bigger than that.  Kiss My Asana is an opportunity to deepen your practice, start a yoga practice, go for a walk, empower your hope, and strengthen your courage.

Mind Body Solutions was started by Matthew Sanford, an internationally recognized yoga instructor who is paralyzed from the chest down, from a car accident when he was young.  He wrote an incredibly inspiring book called “Waking; A Memoir of Trauma & Transcendence” about his accident and his journey that brought him to yoga.  READ IT.  The mission of Mind Body Solutions is ” to transform trauma, loss and disability into hope and potential by awakening the connection between mind and body”.

We all have been inspired by people who persevere through significant challenges.  Matthew Sanford and the people he works with are great examples of such perseverance.  Maybe you need a little inspiration to persevere in a challenge right now?  A great way to get through a challenge, be it; illness, weight-loss, depression, divorce, or a long-time dream, is to dedicate your practice toward something.  People who train for marathons for a loved one with cancer (for instance) speak about the extra reserve of determination, focus, will-power they have through the focused purpose of their loved one.

You are invited to take up the challenge of deepening your yoga practice by 5 minutes or maybe an extra class.  Or maybe you get brave and start doing yoga at home or at a class.  Maybe you sit in quiet meditation for 10 minutes a day. Do something.  Be inspired by the determination, strength, and hope of Matthew Sanford and all the yoga students at Mind Body Solutions and DO SOMETHING.  Start.

Join the Daily Bread Yoga team <–click there), regardless of where you live, and make a commitment to yourself about what you will do to challenge yourself.  Get a t-shirt!  Ask your family & friends to donate online to encourage you in all the ways your are stepping up to the challenge and opportunity of Kiss My Asana.  Donate to ME on our team!

I know that many of you live far away and wish you could come for a Daily Bread Yoga retreat…here is a way to be part of it.  Sign Up! Join the team – whether you live in Evansville, Loves Park, Sun Prairie, Waunakee, or Aurora – you can be a part of something that will challenge, inspire, and make a difference.
